Yellowstone 2024
Limited Edition Bourbon Review

I recently had the chance to sample the latest release of 2024 Yellowstone Limited Edition Bourbon, sent to me by my childhood pal, Steve Beam, who currently serves as the Master Distiller at Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, KY.

This annual release is always a blend of bourbons finished in different types of casks, resulting in a complex and evolving flavor profile each year.

For 2024, this blend has been finished twice: once in a cognac cask and once in a brandy cask. This expression highlights delicious notes of pear and apricot. Check out the video below for my initial impressions of this perennial favorite!

Price: Given its limited nature, expect a higher price point compared to their core range.

Yellowstone 2024 Limited Edition Overview: The 2024 expression features 7-year and 17-year aged bourbons and introduces our first double finish in French brandy and cognac casks, enhancing the natural flavors of the extra-aged Bourbon.

Taste: This delicious release is one of my favorites. In between the  classic bourbon notes of vanilla and caramel, I get some citrus, pear and apricot. It’s smooth and approachable, making this an exceptional choice for sipping by the fire.

Other Expressions: Yellowstone also offers other expressions, including: Yellowstone Family Recipe: A small-batch bourbon with a higher rye content for a spicier flavor profile. Yellowstone Single Barrel Select: As the name suggests, this is a single barrel offering with unique characteristics depending on the specific barrel.

Overall: Yellowstone Bourbon provides a range of options for bourbon enthusiasts, from the affordable and accessible Select to the more complex and limited editions. The brand’s connection to Yellowstone National Park adds a certain allure, making it a desirable choice for collectors and those seeking a taste of the American West.

Additional Factors to Consider: Availability. The Limited Edition releases can be very difficult to find due to their limited nature.

Personal Preference: Ultimately, the best way to judge is to try it yourself and see if it suits your taste preferences. I hope this review provides a helpful overview of the 2024 release of Yellowstone’s coveted Limited Edition Bourbon. Cheers!
